Decisions

January 22, 2015

I have been procrastinating on a couple of things over the past few years. I have finally decided that now is the time to make decisions and stand strong.

One of my decisions is to choose me first and then others. I have found in my life that I am always wanting to make sure that everyone else is all right. Do they need anything? But I sit quiet when I need to shout “I can’t take it no more!”

I have an elderly mother who is suffering with severe dementia and a significant other that is draining me emotionally. My decision has been made and the significant other is out.

I am taking myself back and praying to stay and stand strong on this decision. We as women have a tendency to lower our standards when it comes to relationships with others, and accept what is being offered even though it is nothing but crumbs.

I’m standing here on my ground shouting: “I’m not going to take it no more!” I have learned love comes from the inside and once established inside, it shows on the outside.

After a long career of serving others through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections as a probation and parole agent, Tara R. Pulley stays active in her retirement as an advocate at My Father’s House, Inc., assisting fathers in building relationships with their children. She is a member of Sister Speak, a trilogy of writers who formed in 2010 with a vision of self-expression and a goal of healing. The trio states they are inspired by grace, allowing them to take a genuine position on the struggles and successes of everyday living.
