Three Tips to Stay Healthy This Holiday Season

December 6, 2014

Holiday season is in full swing. This means a lot of time with family and friends, but also a lot of holiday stress and holiday food, especially sugar. Two things that take a hit on your health. What is a person to do? I have three easy to follow tips to help keep you on top of your game this holiday season:

1) Practice 8-count breathing for five minutes in the morning and at night. Breathe in for eight seconds, hold it for eight seconds, and exhale for eight seconds. Make sure your inhalations and exhalations are evenly spaced. Stress weakens your immune system. Eight-count breathing is an easy to practice exercise to re-center yourself and lower stress levels.

2) Limit the amount of sugar you eat this month. Sugar weakens your immune system and makes it harder for your body to fight off a cold when you come into contact with germs. Yes, you can still indulge in a holiday cookie or two, but it should not become a staple in your daily diet.

3) Receive chiropractic care. Your nervous system is intimately connected with your immune system. Keeping your nervous system in peak condition better enables you to fight off that cold this holiday season. The best way to optimize your nervous system is to see your chiropractor because chiropractors specialize in the health of your nervous system. When your nervous system is operating at 100 percent, your whole body works better.

Hopefully you are able to follow these three tips for happy and HEALTHY holiday season. Be well, and enjoy the holidays!
